HYDROSOL: Hydrogen from sunlight

With the help of synergies and together with partners from Germany and abroad, the researchers at the DLR Institute for Future Fuels developed a process in which hydrogen is produced from concentrated sunlight and water.

More than ever, humanity needs storable energy sources. They should come from renewable sources and be affordable. The DLR Institute for Future Fuels in Cologne has been researching such a technology for more than 20 years. Through the strategic use of various funding from the EU, the federal government and the land NRW, the researchers, together with partners from Germany and abroad, developed a process in which hydrogen is produced from concentrated sunlight and water. The DLR Institute sees itself as a bridge between fundamental research and large-scale implementation and application in industry.
