Münster Electrochemical Energy Technology (MEET) was founded in 2009 as a research institute at the University of Münster and has been a central research facility there since 2013. At the MEET Battery Research Centre, around 150 staff are working in research and development in the field of electrochemical energy storage systems. These include both lithium-ion technology and alternative battery systems, for example lithium-metal systems. Research objectives are the design and further development of electrochemical energy storage systems with higher energy density, improved performance, greater safety, longer lifetime and reduced costs. MEET is predominantly financed through projects funded at state, federal and EU level as well as through targeted research collaborations with industry.
